Here’s what you can expect from this episode:

You’ve heard me talk about how our bodies are interconnected, so in this episode I am going to dive into what structurally connects our body, the fascia. To explore this I am joined by Lauren Keller, a structural integration practitioner, and we are chatting about the ‘packing peanuts’ of our body, exploring the vital role of fascia.

During this episode, we will explore what structural integration is and how it is different from regular massage therapy. Are you wondering who would utilize structural integration? We’ll cover that and also the most common complaints that bring people into this modality.

Plus, Lauren will give us an insider’s view of what an appointment with her looks like, guiding us from start to finish. You don’t want to miss this one, so friends, let’s dive in!

Meet Lauren:

Lauren Keller grew up on Long Island, New York and has been practicing Structural Integration for the past seven years. She first discovered Structural Integration in undergrad at Adelphi University where she got her degree in Psychology. She was studying Somatic Psychology when she was asked to write a research paper about an alternative treatment modality and this is where she fell in love with the work and always knew someday she might pursue it. After a series of wild turns including being diagnosed with cancer at 22 years old and beating it, working in homeless shelters in NYC to eventually quitting her job to backpack South America Lauren moved to San Diego in 2018 where she opened up her private practice in Mission Valley and has been living here and practicing Structural Integration ever since.

Topics covered on fascia:

  • How the fascia is responsible for shock absorption, emotional processing, and structural support
  • The active participation of a client in the appointment
  • The process-based nature of this modality and typical delivery through a 10-session series for full body alignment
  • How it can address physical, mental, and emotional aspects simultaneously
